Where is the middle of the stance?

Left foot is splayed towards the target. So is the middle of the stance a point between the toes, or the heels, in my case thats a big difference

I'd say ankle joints, where the lower leg bones are connected with the feet. At least, biomechanically this is the best answer.

Below your sternum.

Your feet can be splayed any which way but the middle of your body does not move.

If you need a reference point closer to the ground then your shag bag will do. :D

you would have to be pretty deformed to not have your ankle joints in line with your heels.

If you think it over before writing you could actually imagine that the distance between ankle joints and heels can be a little different in case one or both heels are flared.

I agree with Brian.

My dad taught me to aim by laying a club down behind my heels and looking where it is pointing. Should point at the target.

Works every time.

Every time I remember to do it... that is...

So if that's the line running to the target, bisect it with a perpendicular line measured between the heels.
