winter chipping practice and proper form

can any one help a bored ohioan with chipping procedure ,my question is ,are you to hit the inside of the ball for such a short swing as a chip?if so does the pivot rotate the club through the ball.it seems that if you don't rotate the ball will shank .also ,i know the right wrist is to be bent at impact what type of hinge is the left arm suposed to use.and can anyone explain the movement.will these short pitch shots help the full swing motion?thanks for any help on my questions.

Even on a chip, it's still a down and out Impact with the clubhead on it's way to low point, exactly like a full shot. You won't shank if PP #3 is monitoring the sweetspot instead of the hosel. The clubface should be closing in orderfor the ball to travel down the plane/target line at separation. You can use horizontal hinging with closing only, or angled hinging with closing and lay-back.

I would treat "chipping" as a "decending PUTT (with lofted club)" with angled hinge (no roll or no wrist motion) action.

I chip and pitch with almost exclusively with a vertical hinge and i hit the back of the ball...just the way i do it.

is the verticle hinge like a backhand slap with the wrist bowed back.and do you close the club with a pivot?it seems like there are different methods, so which would be the best to help with the full stroke .

from what i understand, a vertical hinge is one that contacts the ball and lays back...no closing.

So for a straight shot you need to hit the back of the back otherwise you will put spin on the ball.

I simply adjust my ball position for trajectory, setup from a hitter's setup with the flying wedges and pick the club straight up and just hit the back of the ball driving my arm with no closing, just layback. After the follow through my hands continue straight up in the air and looks real similar to a Phil M knock down except his left wrist is bent and his face is closed where my left wrist is flat, right wrist is bent, and the face is facing the sky perpendicular to the plane line

I am experiencing different stroke for chipping. Can you use 1) a pushing stroke, just right forearm pushing like a putting stroke for 8 iron chip and run; and 2) a fanning right arm stroke for the ball to loft up?
