Winter Golf and training aids.

Hey guys, since I had to move to Michigan a few years back I have had to deal with how to keep my game sharp during the winter. I typically hit balls in a dome weekly etc, but still end up coming into spring with more swing issues than I ended with the past fall. I've worked hard to get a decent game and play to about a 5, but really want to play to a scratch next year, but see these winters as a huge barricade in my golf development. I want to go after it this winter and thought a few training aids may be a good way to keep my swing togeter.

Specifically:
~RoverGolfs Power Angle Pro, Prue Swing (Which I think Brian really likes), and Power release.

Any other thoughts for swing aids or tips for keeping my game from falling apart would be appreciated!

Thanks,
~Dustin

There is a training aid called the Leaderboard made by some group from 'down unda' that I think is a terrific training aid for golf, as well as a great workout for your core/lower body.

It looks weird but it bust be a way of using your feet to pivot correctly - in the "sit down" video answer Brian mentions that he feels alot of pressure on his trail foot... that can only be achieved on the leaderboard device if you keep the feet apart , i guess... never used one!

Those Aussies are doing OK with it too! Appleby uses it and maybe Ogilvy??

It is good for fixing some faults,
really good for a more dynamic, functional workout,
and gets into your hip flexors/core better than any workout I've experienced!

I live in Canton, too, and have lived in MI my whole life, so I definitely can relate about the winter lock-down, especially since I've taken up golf :) There's a range called Miles of Golf in Ann Arbor that is open all winter. It has heated tees, and heated balls, so you'll be able to watch and analyze your ball flight. The only downside is that you're hitting off of mats, but there are ways around those problems.

DL,
I struggle with "pivoting", would the Leaderboard be very helpful with this? I'm not looking to build a stronger pivot, I'm just looking to get a pivot...period. Since thing cost about $200, it'd have to help a lot and I'd need to be able to use it indoors without actually swinging a club (only have 8 foot ceilings).
Thanks,
p

pm,

I don't think that the Leaderboard will help your pivot.
I think for that you need to review Brian's articles and videos, maybe Ben Doyles, and some good ol chip, pitch, punch's...
I think that the Leaderboard could be good for quieting unnecessary lower body movement, getting a better sense of your core, and for a different approach to a couple of swing issues.

DL,
I see. Well, thanks for saving me a couple of hundred of bux! I'll put it towards lessons from Brian. I posted a message concerning what his schedule is going to be during November. I live in IL and would travel to KY for some lessons.
Thanks again for your insight on the Leaderboard. I really appreciate it!

first time I saw that Aussie commercial I said what's the over/under on how many days till someone busts their ass on that thing and sues. Not sure I would by anything Finch endorses.

Brian,

I gather from your various writings that you're not enamoured of any lower body stability training aids.
Why is this?
Do you have some research to back it up?
Are Ben Doyle's milk crates bad too?
Is there zero benefit, minimal benefit, or an undetermined amount of benefit?

Thanks,
Damon
