wobble and the backswing

What is the most common cause of wobble on the backswing? Can it be caused by the hips moving too much laterally? I have been working on the NHA pattern, feeling the hips moving laterally on the backswing. After inconsistent play for 16 holes, with no compression, popups off the tee, I kept my hips still and hit perfect shots the last two holes. I would like to clear the right hip per the book buut have a hard time doing it without the lateral move of the hips. Any feels on keeping the lower part of the spine centered and clearing the right hip?

Wobble...

The IDEA of having the hips "slide only" on the backstroke, is—for the most part—just an idea.

They will turn, they'll just turn further to the right and as a result of the lift of the hands to the top.

No problem at all with hips that FEEL LIKE they do ZERO, because in a pivot where everything gets PULLED to the top, they get pulled third to last.

(...then the knees, then the feet ;) )

As usual it makes perfect sense and in practice works much better than attempting to keep them still. Thanks Brian.
