I've been a member since almost the beginning of this website and its forum. I was an original beta tester of the Do It Right vhs...yes....vhs. I am just wondering where in your teaching you are now as compared to the Do It Right video. As of late you've developed a Matrix type of teaching style....a snapping the chain teaching also I believe. I guess what I'm asking is this....do you still believe in and teach the Do It Right stuff. I have to ask because for years you were telling me to hit the inside of the ball and then one day you say....never mind, that doesn't matter.lol. I'm just wondering where we are now ?

I have learned a LOT since 2003.

Five years in Manzella-land is like dog years. Woof! :p

The "Do It Right beta" pattern is still a good pattern, but I would explain it much better today.

You can hit the inside of the ball all you want, but you have to play a right to left shot, or aim left.

The new "Do It Right" pattern video has become a search for the TRUE MIDDLE of the MANZELLA MATRIX, and when my research is ready, I'll shoot the video.

Brian,
I tend to swing to much from the inside and hit a push draw. But sometimes i hook or i push. I used to aim left with a strong grip and hit about a 10 -15 yard push. I thought this was bad but i was young and stupid and never heard of lee trevino. So i have aimed square to my target and am bad under pressure. I was in a tournament in the texas junior golf tour tournament and was only two over thru 15 then went bogey ,double, bogey because of a hook. I learned this swing from watching david toms at the colonial invitational when i was 14. Not knowing anything at the time i watched him and it looked like he swung like his arms and hands were along for the ride. So the next day i went out and immediately hit it great. 4 months later my dad told me i was aiming left. so i have fought it for a year or so aiming square. Wondering if this is an ok way to swing since its natural.

I'll tell you from personal experience. Do what works, until you can get with an instructor that will only fix what really needs fixing. After struggling with pushes for years, I now aim my feet left, and hit the ball much straighter doing so. It works for me.

Thank you Bigwill. I tried taking a stronger grip and aiming left today playing with my dad. All I would do was hit a big hook so I abandoned it and hit the ball fine. Just bad sometimes under pressure

Sounds to me that Bigwill is not aiming left so much as pre-setting his lower body, hips, slightly open in readiness for his down swing.

Preempting his pivot, if you like.

You're right. When Brian gave me that two ball, swing left drill, it changed my game. I now aim my feet pretty far left, and it has contributed to me having my best year of golf ever.
