Wrist Cock = Lag?

Brian,

I can, (at least in slow motion), mimick the top of your swing (like in your signature posts) in a mirror. In doing so, I cock my flat left wrist and it creates roughly an even right angle between the clubshaft and my left forearm. However, I played Ben Doyles' swing on your site and I can't even begin to get that clubshaft/forearm angle nearly as acute as he does without bending my left wrist and cocking my right wrist. It does not appear Ben is bending his left wrist, so can he just REALLY REALLY cock his left wrist to achieve such an acute angle?

And don't you need to be able to achieve this acute angle I speak of in order to get that 'sergio-like' or charles howell III - like LAG?

CLUBHEAD lag is not a function of the left wrist at all.

You are refering to Accumulator Lag or snap release.

Either way, you CAN do it wit or without acute angles.

What aCUTE to you, may not be aCUTE to me ;)

I keep asking questions to which I could probably find the answer in the book somewhere, but here I go again. What exactly is CLUBHEAD lag a function of?

Thanks :)

Clubhead Lag is a function of the sweetspots resistance to the change of direction, whick LOADS PRESSURE on the #3 pressure point (trigger finger).

It is literally JUST a clubhead-lagging-behind-the-trigger finger and producing a DRAGGING A MOP LIKE feel on that pressure point.

So you can have NO WRIST COCK and perfect Lag.

I'm going to chime in here with my own question which I believe is still on topic.

At the end of the backswing during the change of direction, I feel pp #3 against the top portion of the grip/shaft. Is this correct? If it is, can you explain how lag can be sustained though impact without leaving the face wide open? If not, should I be feeling it on the back portion of the grip/shaft?
