X factor?

I have question about hips. More about the X factor concept I heard from likes of Jim Mclean(sp?) and other tour player articles ive read. ...the only way i can get a firmilar look to this backswing move is to let hips move and kick in left knee more. Im pretty flexible and only way i get similar look is to allow hips to turn into right pocket much more. The question is the X factor. I read so many times instructors talk about hip line vs. shoulders line and that separation to the top adds to create rubberband effect creating power move. Always had trouble w/ that. So these dynamic type moves ala Daly/sadlowski seem to go against that x factor method to achieve more load. Am I way off here? Do you want to let your hips turn bit then on backswing to load then return to ball w/ axis tilt as normal?

Drew,

There is no such thing as the "rubber band" effect with muscles...total myth...muscles don't work that way..

All you can do is contract and relax them (individual muscles)...

To make two opposite movements you need two sets of opposing muscles.....e.g. contract muscle "A" to make the movement, then relax muscle "A" and contract muscle "B" to make the opposite movement....

"store the fat...loose the fat" manzellaism

The back swing "stores" nothing. It merely positions the club, et al, in readiness for the down swing.

I was referring to how Brian showed me to get into a strong backswing position. Helps in the relax/contract of left side muscles....Nothing was said about storing energy.
