Luckily the video caught the moment where the clubhead is about one foot from hitting the ball.
As most of you know I've been really working on getting my arms to "catch up" to the rest of my body. I've been doing this by ensuring the left arm was more or less pulling the club straight to my left hip to start the downswing. I still allow my hips to turn, but I'm trying to not let my shoulders open up as soon. As a result I realized I could simplify this though by simply trying to "get my hands ahead of the ball" while still maintaining my axis tilt. One of those things you've heard over and over again but for some reason it just finally sinks in one day.
So these swings are the result of that primary thought. Hands ahead of the ball and maintain axis tilt. As a result, I don't like my backswing as much. It's a bit too far inside for my taste during the takeaway, and my arms are lifting up a bit. That's really just because the lift and turn is out of synch. I'm not lifting and turning at the same time... I'm first turning, then lifting. That's been a habit of mine since I think I first picked up a club.
I'm interested to hear how you guys percieve my progress. Do you really notice any difference from the previous swings you may have seen? At this point I believe I can see a slight improvement in the lag. I have also found it amazingly easy to hook the ball since starting this. My usual miss used to be a fade, but now it's a pretty sweeping hook. As long as I remind myself to accellerate all the way past the ball, the hook disappears. But one time of forgetting and it's a 50 yarder to the left.
I've also realized that my right arm extends much more by the time of impact. Elbow postition appears to have become more of a "pitch".
I think you can clearly see that I've become a "hitter" in place of my old swing where I was a "swinger".
