I currently have a Kodak playsport, which I use for videoing swings. It does 60fps, and is reasonable quality (especially considering the price) but it's far from ideal.

I'd like to upgrade, and my research has suggested the casio ex-fc 100 and 150 are the best sensibly-priced options.

Is there much difference between the 2 (my checking out suggests not), and does anyone have any experiences with either?

Additionally, is there a reliable way to pick these things up second-hand? I've checked ebay (uk) and they seem very thin on the ground. Any ideas?

Thanks

This has been discussed in several different threads.

Google this site:BrianManzella.com "Casio" and you will
have plenty of info.

My vote? FH-25 and forget about the slight price difference.

Get the FC150,FH100 or FH25.They are the current models, perform better in low light and has a fairly high resolution 120fps mode that other cameras don't have. They are not that much more expensive than a FC100.The reason being the FC150 is made in China while the FC100 is made in Japan.Performance wise though it's no contest.

I just got delivery of an EX-FH100 yesterday so I am a little pissed, but I also have the FH25 and the zoom on it is sick. if you go to tour events or even your kids sporting events the FH25 is better, but if you are gonna use it for golf or regular pics the EX-ZR100 will fit in your bag or pocket and has more than enough zoom for most uses an 12 megapixels. they Both have the Back lit sensor which fixes the lighting issues.
Damn I am pissed! I ordered that camera last week! Casio is turning into Taylormade with new stuff every 6 months!

CASIO's EX-ZR100
ej, is this any way a replacement for the FH25? Or would you stick witht the FH25? Sorry I'm not in a position to compare using all the tech specs, cos I just don't know enough about it. Two friends of mine have got the FH25 and find it excellent.

http://www.brianmanzella.com/forum/...nd-new-casio-camera-introduced-today-ces.html

The new ZR100 has new features like 1080p video but the HS modes have not improved. In fact they have eliminated the 120 fps mode which is quite dissapointing.

I suppose it depends on your needs. The ZR100 looks pocketable. The FH25 is not but has a mega 20X zoom. For golf analysis i don't think there will be much difference.

I was actually hoping the new models would have higher resolution HS video but they remain the same.

The ZR10 does not have manual shutter so I think the FC150 is still better for golf.

I just wanted to add, there is an EX-FS10 selling at $116-129 which does the high speed video. Anyone have any experience with that one?

Based on low light performance and battery, I am leaning toward the FH100.

Also, to note there is an FC150...

Does anyone have a handy explanation for their naming system, the letters and why the numbers are two or three digits?
FCxx
FSxx
FHxx
ZRxx

I am just scratching the surface messing around with the FH25 and so far I am impressed. It is so easy to edit video on the camera it is nuts.

Fujifilm has released a couple of beauties. The HS20EXR and the F550EXR.

Both models have 80/160/320 fps and manual exposure. They also boast a 720p 60fps mode which the Casio's do not have.

Fujiflim cameras have always been renowned for their low light performance and these cameras should be no exception. They have larger backlit sensors than the Casio's.

In high speed however the size is much smaller then the casio.

Fuji F550EXR: 320fps (320 x 112 pixels), 160fps (320 x 240 pixels), 80fps (VGA 640 x 480 pixels).
Fuji HS20EXR: 320fps (320 x 112 pixels), 160fps (320 x 240 pixels), 80fps (VGA 640 x 480 pixels).

Casio

EX-FH100 : 480 x 360 (210 fps, 30-210 fps), 224 x 168 (420 fps), 224 x 56 (1000 fps)
EX-FH25 :HS 1000 (224 × 64, 1000 fps), HS 420 (224 × 168, 420 fps), HS 240 (448 x 336, 240fps), HS 120 (640 x 480, 120fps), HS 30-240 (448 x 336, 30fps - 240fps), HS 30-120 (640 x 480, 30-120 fps)

IMHO ex-f1 is still the best
336 x 96 (HS 1200 )
432 x 192 (HS 600 )
512 x 384 (HS 300 )
512 x 384 (HS 30-300 )

Frans, Thanks for the details. I was wondering this very thing as I have several EX-F1's and really like them. (It is nice to be able to feed them right into my SwingViewPro software.) Waiting to see if the TrackMan upgrade 5.0 will work with them!

Yes you are correct, the Fuji's don't have quite the resolution in the HS modes. They do have the 720p 60fps for those who like to watch their swing in high definition though and Fuji's work well in low light which is perhaps better for taking indoor videos.

The Casio's are still great, you just can't go wrong with them. The EX F1 is the best but is the most expensive and heaviest.I'm a bit disappointed they haven't improved the specs on them. The F1's have been the same for three years now.

The F1 is discontinued and as far as I understand it was only a "proof of concept model" to show what they could achieve, it will therefor not be continued or updated. Together with the option to control it via the usb port you can really have fun with them. Because of that secondhand price is still relative high. (between usd 2500 and usd 800)

I'm currently testing the new Trackman software together with two ex-f1's. The new trackman software allows integration between radar and hs camera's.
