Downstroke/Float loading

Some of golf's best players have done it this way-- Nicklaus, Lee Janzen, Payne Stewart to name a few. I know many players have a little float load, but with this type of swing(Nicklaus type) it is more obvious.

What makes this type of swing work? What are some of it's pitfalls?

First as in all motions, tension will hurt you - and more so with float loading. Secondly, I feel it is generally easier to play a fade, to play from mid body hands and certainly to 'swing' if float loading.
If your timing is off, you would tend to block or to 'flip' and/or throw away. If you want to hit a draw with float loading, use 10-2-D - just my opinion, but it is an easier approach.
