Francis Joseph "Lefty" O'Doul 1897 - 1969

Lefty O'Doul, Manager of the San Francisco Seals, and a member at Lake Merced Golf Club, introduced Kenny to Joe DiMaggio. Joe liked to prepare in seclusion at Seals Stadium before leaving for Spring training, and allowed Kenny to shag fly balls for him during his workouts. O'Doul refused to take credit for DiMaggio's success, saying "I was just smart enough to leave him alone."

Ken turned down the Yankees 'tryout' after getting a taste of life on the road, while staying at Copley Plaza in Boston for a junior golf tournament.

PS Lefty is not in the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Don't get me started.
