Former Flipper (Pivot) vs Magic of Right Forearm??

Help me reconcile this. In Confessions of a former flipper, Brian has a lot of focus on using the pivot to move the arms. How does this "concept" and action reconcile with the magic of the right forearm, which is an immediate up, back, and in BY THE MOVEMENT OF THE RIGHT FOREARM?

Is there a transition from the pivot initiating the swing to the foreame picking up the club from start-up to end?
