Hands controlled Pivot or Pivot controlled Hands?

Haven't seen any lively debate recently on this topic. Do the hands control the pivot? Or, does the pivot control the hands?

For me, I seem to hit the ball both further and more consistent when the hands control my pivot. Equally important, it seems that when my hands control my pivot, I am less likely to come over the top. When I think pivot controlled hands, my shoulders get way too active.

But, I have read where many think that pivot controlled hands lead to more consistency, especially amongst the tour pros.

Thoughts?

Supplementary Question Re. "hands controlled pivot" please...

When you reply is it possible to discuss/distinguish those who use hand movement to control pivot ( is this what Croker advocates?) versus those whose hands are moved by pivot but the feedback from the sensations created in the hands governs further pivot movement.... is there a "hand movement controlled pivot" versus a "hand sensation controlled pivot"??
