Manzella Academy Only: Shanking

I just listened to Brian's podcast on shanking, but I still don't understand something. Brian suggested that we should turn the right palm down or left knuckles up in the downswing. However, most shanks occur with the wedges. When I perform the suggested move, I de-loft the club , which I don't want to do when executing a pitch. Am I misunderstanding Brian's advice?

Also, what do you gentlemen suggest as an immediate fix if an attack of the shanks arrives in the middle of a round?

Thank you.
