THE "RELEASE" PROOF BEFORE & AFTER

The 1st video was Aug. 17th before COFF and the Michael Jacobs Videos. After this range session I searched the internet for early release solutions. COFF is what I found and it taught me alot, but mainly 4 things: 1 My pivot sucks, 2 where the low point is, 3 where my hands actually are and where I think they are, 4 the left shoulder needs to be as far away from the ball as posssible at impact. Worked on that for a week and was able to hit ok shots better for sure, but new I was still casting. Came across the Jacobs videos by accident and it clicked especially part 2. The thought of pushing away from my lefward pivot just seemed to jive with everthing I was working on with COFF. Started flushing the ball almost instantly and much more balanced on my follow through. My hands are more over the ball at impact. The second video was today after 9 days of working on these thoughts and drills.

That is a great improvement. So are you working on any of the COFF things still? If so, which one(s).

Thanks, Still working on a ton of stuff, but less than I was before. The more I get this down the more It just feels like a "move" to deliver the club head to the ball. I see the back of the ball and use this move to deliver the club face to it. Not try to get my hands in front of it. No thoughts of swing plane follow through, clearing the hips, spine angle ect... You actually push up and to the left with your feet and away then down then up again with your arms/hands.

Using this release has produced some amazing changes in my swing. There is one in particular that really makes hitting fun again - balance. I bring this up here because I see the same thing in Jeremy's swing.

As one who purposely held onto and even added to the wrist set on the way down in order to create additional lag, I used to slightly fall off balance about every other swing. Driving my hands down and out led to me either stuck on the right foot or way out on my toes. Once I started properly releasing from the top, this all changed. I push the club back where it came from as I go forward, so simple.

Now I find myself balanced on my left foot at the end of the swing. And didn't have to fight or fake to get there.

Some other things that have improved:

Swing speed - I can't believe how far I'm hitting. I've always been a relatively long hitter but now I'm finding myself in parts of the fairway I've never visited before on courses I've played for many years. Even PW is +10 yards.

Tempo - Its like a half dozen extra parts of the downswing are gone. Free swinging for the first time since I was a kid.

Wear and tear - I've hit balls every day for at least a week (mostly off mats) and have no pain whatsoever in my back, hips, elbows, shoulders, wrists... all of these would previously get sore under a lighter workload.

Maybe I was the perfect candidate for improvement from this change.

I know what you mean about trying to fake your balance on the finish. I do it all the time, but when this release is done right the right foot just kind of pops up off the ground onto the toes and the club wraps around your neck instead of slapping the right butt cheek. I have tendonitis in both elbows and it's starting to feel much better despite hitting so many balls lately. Anyway I know I still have a long way to go, but just to have the hands over the ball at impact or close to it and not try to force them there feels like I'm getting away with something.
At impact have you been getting the sensation of "feeling the hinge but not the club"? What I mean is: I can feel my wrists moving, but the club or handle doesn't seem to be there. I haven't been able to duplicate it every time, but it is a very cool feeling.
 
Yes I believe I know what you mean about the impact feel. Through the bottom of the swing it feels almost weightless. My right hand (which used to drive the club across the shaft) might as well not be there at impact. It's as if 10 variables have been removed from an equation.

The time pre-impact to impact used to be a violent event for me. I would use the momentum at the top of the swing to set my wrists deeply then yank this whole package down towards the target line. It was heavy, awkward, and too often proved difficult to time properly. I can't believe how much effort I wasted working on this motion. Now I feel the wrists set and the club bounce right back while I shift my weight left. At this point the club is light and balanced as it accelerates. Its on its way and I need no other conscious manipulation of it for a solid strike.
