Trying to grasp The 3 Imperatives concept

When taking a full shot off of a good lie....

Do the 3 imperatives really apply to everyone, or are they simply an excellent way to teach a beginner golfer?

I am really struggling to get my head around this one.

Imperatives mean imperative. They are not named: esstential, reccomended, optional, etc.

They are something every good golfer does and that is why they are imperative. Could you play golf without them? Yup, but you may not reach your potential.

So, you will never be, say, a scratch golfer without employing them?

Maybe i'm hoping for a definitive answer where one is not possible.

Sure, you could eventually become scratch...however the 3 imperatives make a golfer consistent. You could play with a flip and a bent left wrist if you do it all the time constantly. It's just going to be difficult.
