weight shift vs. pivot?

Can someone straighten me out on the fundamental difference between the two?

For instance, can you have a decent pivot without shifting much of your weight? I used to try to shift so much weight back that I would end up having to move my head a bit toward the target just to keep my balance. Recently I've been trying to feel that I don't shift any weight at all, and am hitting it farther and much more consistent.

I think that you can have a decent pivot if you feel like you're not shifting much of your weight, if you're a person overdid the weight shift previously, or if you were shifting improperly before.

One thing to keep in mind is that, due to the big move you used to make, the move you're currently making would feel like a lot less weight shift than you may actually be making.

Bottom line is if you're hitting it longer and more consistently, you must be doing something right (or at least righter:) )
