I would think he has to work under it if he carries the face like that and restricts his hips with that ultra steep shoulder turn. If I made that backswing I'd hump that goat into next month.

Southern Dunes....great track.
I used to get that same look. It was a save and a reflection of trying to guard against a face pointed dead left as well as coming too far from the inside. The hump was more the inside save, the elbow/arm motion the face. You have to get the face to open up somewhere. Back that shaft up! He's holding on for dear life, not trying to extend. That's just my opinion, based on how I felt when I swung with that look through the ball. That takeaway/backswing, for me, is bad news. His bad shots are hooks and chunks? High floaty ball hitter? Is there an advantage to a hyper-extended left arm thru the entire swing? That 2nd to last pic face on view makes my left elbow hurt. Looks like a TON of stress on that joint in an attempt to maintain max extension all the way to the finish.
Isn't Quiros's shoulder turn steep? Does he goat hump?

What's your point? Does he carry the club in the backswing like this guy? No. Also, what is this guy, like 5 foot 6?? With a 45 inch driver? Think a bit more before you try to dump on something.
Kevin do you think him keeping his left arm so locked is possibly his primary cause for having such a shut face? To me it looks like he is not allowing his arms to follow what the club wants to do ( open up on the way back)
Sorry didnt read well enough and notice you were talking backswing,I would be happy to get as open as this guy every time I tape my swing I hate the impact look, not open enough and too much in to out but I think I starting to under stand why thanks to you KevinToo open?
Yea. I'm saying I think that ram rod straight arm might be causing his face to get shut in the first place. It looks like it's either that or him holding his right arm straight for so long. The face is nearly pointing straight down as his arms start to fold. I would imagine every move after that is going to be a save reaction, and make it very hard to get the impact and " release" he likely wants to achieve. He has a super straight arm probably because that's what he learned when he was a kid.
He tells me he has a hold off follow through because he doesn't want the ball to go left. He feels like he has the tendency to come from very inside out. He works at ping, so I think the machines are telling him the numbers he needs to get for better consistency. Also, he has a coach at Ping who tells him he has to go more body through.
