Go into the sand.

Rake the bunker smooth.

Draw a line.

Have the youngster straddle the line.

Have them take a swing (any grip is fine if the hands touch) and make a divot in front of the line.

Once they do, have them make it closer and closer.

When they can, put a ball on the line and tell them to hit the ball and then hit the sand the way the were just doing.

POW!

Put the ball on the grass, draw some more lines and you'll have a golfing buddy for life.

Promise ;)

Sounds like a wonderful way to practice for anyone. Should a 10 handicap use this as well, to improve their ball striking?

Thanks

Ben's favorite drill and one I use with my young daughter. Unless Ben got it from Brian, let's give him credit!

You mean Ben invented sand?

Well, Bens been around a while, but I don't think that long.
It's a great drill and Brian touched on the high points of it. But there is more.

Set up normally in the sand.

Place the club in the sand as far behind the ball (on the arc) as you can.

RAKE the sand in an arc to where the ball would be.

F-L-I-N-G the sand as far as you can.

HINT***: full roll, full swivel!
