I'm interested as well, and curious if it has to do with addressing the shot with your wrists fully uncocked, at a downward angle from your forearms or having your wrists closer towards the cocked position, with your palms more inline with your forearms?

Makes more sense now, but I would look at that and think he has exaggerated knee or waist bend, and not low hands. Although low hands are obviously the result, he really isn't doing anything with the hands to change their location. Anyway, is this bad? I didn't see any answers.

low hands is a by-product of several factors...
The clubshaft relation to the hands, waist bend, knee bend, plane angle, etc...
Consequences???....depends on the plane angle shift

Mac's hands are more up now than before. However not much.
I think my hands are lower than what he likes.
