Hey J!

I've been invited to tag along with a buddy, but money is tight right now so I will probably pass. I am saving all I can for my 3 days with Brian in September.

By the way....how's Oklahoma treating you and how is the swing?

The Rawls Course is in unbelievable condition right now. It has never been this good.

I like it here a lot! Especially for the golf. My choice of 10-12 courses I can play for $35 with plush grass, trees, elevation changes etc. The swing is ok, I am still a 6, but nothing special. I am trying to get down to see Brian in hopes he can help me put all these things together. Thats cool about the Rawls course, I knew that would happen when I left. Take care,

JB

Update from Southern Hills

Here is a little update on my day yesterday.

Southern Hills is an incredible golf course in fantastic shape. You could putt on the fairways, and when you walk across them, it is like turf on a sponge. Our day started at the North end driving range where I was treated to a 20 minute session watching David Toms. (I could have left the course a happy man at that point. He just has the smoothest move through the ball). After every two balls, he was working pretty hard on swinging left from halfway down to finish. At this point I thought about standing up on the fence and yelling something like “Never Hook Again baby! Yeah! Swing that badboy left Tomsy!” Then I thought maybe I might embarrass him and then Brian might kick me off the site, so I didn’t. Next to Toms was VJ and Chris DeMarco. (DeMarco is a very small guy). I was amazed at how much higher VJ hits the ball than DeMarco and Toms. Joining them was Todd Hamilton and Ryuji Imada. We turned around to check out the putting green where Retief Goosen and Miguel Angel Jimenez were practicing. I can’t believe how little Goosen was. 5’10 165 lbs probably. We headed off across number 4 only to run into one of my favorites, Tom Lehman, playing the hole by himself. We then proceeded to follow Stuart Appleby, Brandt Snedeker, Trevor Immelman, Camillo Villegas and a 3-some that included Paddy Harrington and Paul McGinley. In between holes, each of them stopped to sign many autographs and cut up with the fans. All very cool even though it was 98 degress at 80% humidity. It is just amazing how STRAIGHT and SOLID these guys hit the ball everytime with minimal effort. The highlight of the day happened on our way back to the shuttle as we stopped to watch a club pro play the 537 yard par 5, I litteraly almost ran over Bobby Clampett. I didn’t see him, but heard him talking and that is a voice you just do not forget. He chatted with a couple of us and signed autographs for about 10 minutes. (All the while I was thinking, “damn why did I not get his book and mention it to him”) Anyway, an awesome afternoon was complete.
