VJ Singh, post impact....No blast off????

When you look at VJ's swing, after impact to both arms straight, there is no blast "off" the chest, that upper arm is still connected, yet, he is a swinger.

I have been pulling my shots a lot, with the idea that I "should" pull from the top (after the hip bump of course). Could an over emphasis on pulling with my left arm cause me this problem?

So swingers in fact, pull with the left arm?

Thanks.

Some do, some don't.

it's not something you "have to feel" you do consciously. I'm a swinger and i don't. I just rotate as fast as i can, on plane, from the top to the finish.

That's all i feel.

Something else to remember about Vijay is that he purposely trains to keep that left arm glued as long as possible.

Check these things, before you change how you swing:

-be sure you're contacting the inside aft portion of the ball with a slightly open face

-make sure your ball position isn't too far forward

-double check your alignment

-make sure you're not over plane

You don't want to make big changes, if all you need to do is adjust something small.

Perhaps you are just pulling in the wrong direction....:D
Try pulling while your back is still facing the target, but stay "connected"...

Chill dude, its just a comment.

sorry, didn't mean to make it sound like that...i was just curious why you thought it mattered?

There are a lot of things in VJ's swing are that are very "compensated" that allows him to hit the ball and that's one of them imo; among others.

It was of interest to me because it may be a way for me to stop pulling the ball off the planet on my bad swings. So, looking at this action of keeping the left arm close to the left pec is somethig for me to explore. BTW, did it yesterday (into a net though) and the ball was well struck with this "feel" of connection, really jumping off the face.

I think you'll find when you stay connected it forces you to release better, hence the better "feeling"...:)

I was taught that an early disconnection leads to a lot of weak pushes or push-slices..I think many players disconnect as a reaction to left elbow pain (due to not allowing the left elbow to bend early enough after impact). Staying connected allows your left elbow to bend naturally after impact and "pendulum" the club around on the correct swing arc...all part of a correct release I suppose..
