Head moves ballward on backswing- why?

I posted a recent thread on the issue of measuring off well inside the ball at address.

Upon further review it appears that my head moves ballward as a counterbalance move on the backswing. If I addressed the ball with my weight on my toes, I would just about be squaring the clubface directly behind the ball. So this to me answered the question of why I am successful soleing the club well inside the ball at address- my down and out downswing brings me in line with the ball.

I can deliberately fix this if I think of keeping my weight more toward my heels on the backswing, but I don't like that feel. It feels too rotary, if that makes sense.

So my question is what might be wrong in my posture and backswing that would make me move ballward?

Waist Bend

The degree of importance, of whether or not you "maintain" the same amount of Forward Bend of the Torso during the swing, is WIDLY exaggerated.

Hogan changed his, and Paula Creamer and Natalie Gulbis show how much you can go down on the downswing.

I have always had a little "raise up" on my backswing, and I actually can hit a shot or two.

I am very sure that if any of the four golfers mentioned kept their spine angle the same the entire swing—they play worse.

All you can do—if you like your impact postion—is use your impact forward bend to set your address forward bend and take you best shot.

But, don't be surprised if you hit it worse.
