clubhead outside hands? Please help.

Guys,

I was wondering if any of you have experience with this problem that I have been struggling with. When the club reaches the last delivery position (on the downswing) where it should be either parallel to the target line and the feet, or have it pointing just to the right of the target, mine is way outside my hands. My right forearm is on plane and the butt of the club is pointing towards my feet. This is causing me to hit the outside part of the ball and causing some nasty shots. I appreciate any help as I have really been struggling the last few weeks.

On the down swing think of putting your right hand in your right hand pants pocket and brushing your belt buckle with your left forearm. Let your pivot take care of the rest.

i have watched brians video, and i find it so hard to grasp the concept of your right hand in right pocket?? how does that happen???

You are hitting the ball with your hands too much, instead of whipping it around with your pivot. I recommend making some practice swings with your left hand on the club only. Be loose and feel your weight shifting and body pivot whip your arm and the clubhead around. Then after many of those put your right hand back on the club but try to keep the same feeling, like your right hand is just along for the ride. This will encourage more body activity and less hand activity which will allow the clubhead to drop inside on your downswing.

Make a full back swing and, whilst remaining fully turned, simply relax and lower your hands. My guess is that your right hand will end up near the pocket and your left forearm will be pretty close to your belt buckle.

This is more of a drill, and a little exaggerated, than an actual swing. On the range, of course, it doesn't matter where the ball ends up whilst you are ingraining a new movement. But, "shadow boxing" at home may well be a better option initially than hitting balls.

This swing thought for your start down, when synchronised with your pivot, should ensure an on plane down and out pass at the ball once you get the hang of it.

Start fixing by checking your pivot, chances are if you improve your pivot you will have an easier time with the plane line control ---- Review a never slice again style pivot and then report back with some feedback

Sorry for a little threadjack, but have a question. Michael, what has a bigger influence: NSA pivot alone or Twistaway alone in fighting such a fault as Kermit's one ?

Cheers
