what do we reckon is the best golf analogy. im talking about a comparison between a real life situation that everyone can recognise, and relating it to golf in a way that can be replicated. brians recent primer about pressure points uses a particuarly good analogy

my personal favourite is skipping a stone on water

anyone else have a good one that can help us all?

I was a pitcher in high school. Amazing how much you need your legs (e.g. right leg pushing off mound). Grip pressure is the same (4 out of 10), there is a release point, mechanics, follow thru, there is a backswing. If you flip flop the angles to the golf swing there is not a lot different feel wise. Some may disagree........but that why we have a forum!

Chip shots and pitch shot i have a feeling of soft toss. Practice under handing some basic chips......when I struggle I mess up either trajectory or contact. Hiroshi from the Big Break impressed me with his short game skills zipping thru the ball, but also the way we swung on his full shots.
Could always pick a tour player and study there flow.

Throwing a baseball as hard as you can.

I know one thing for sure: my baseball pivot is stronger than my golf pivot, but I'm working on it!

my analogy of skipping a stone on water, i think incoporates most of these elements as well. first, you shift some weight/pressure to your back foot, and rear back a little, whilst keeping you right arm flexed but wide.
then as you start forward, the hips start to clear and turn and shift. you release the stone about 2-3ft past your left foot. if you throw it earlier, you wont get the deired result and throw it straight in the water.
and you have to have a large amount of axis tilt to do it correctly. tilt forward and you throw straight into water.
and at the end, wheres all your weight? your left heel. i thinks its the best analogy in golf
