Right foot and slice

My first post.

I got NSA and Flipper because I did/do both. I suffer from analysis paralysis so after watching both videos I had info overload.

So I got Building Blocks. This has helped me greatly. The grip and the “waggle waggle, tap tap, forward press swing” helped the most.

I have only played twice (and practiced a lot) since watching videos and I see improvement already. I have two questions.

When I do the chip shot I keep lifting the heel of my right foot. I see Brian does not do that until the follow thru of the full swing. I may be lifting it in my full swing also. Not videoed yet. Is this a problem?

Also I am hitting the irons good, but still slicing the woods. So I am going to concentrate on NSA mastering one point at a time. But in the mean time any ideas why the difference with the woods?

Thanks,
Doug

I used to use my lower body WAY too much and my right foot would come off early; thinking this was generating more power. Not a good thing, at least for me. Now I have a more quieter lower body which leads to more consistency.

Thanks curtisj76.

I went to the range this morning. Building Blocks has transformed my swing:D .
I can hit the irons much better now and I was concentrating on keeping my right foot down longer.

I am still slicing the woods. Could I be putting a slicing action on my irons and
the slice not showing up because they are irons?

Once again, no expert, but the first thing that comes to my mind is that you may be trying to crush the ball with the longer clubs. It happens to many, including me. Something about getting the driver in your hands and trying to be Tiger Woods.

I am one of the many that Brian has "fixed" with slicing. In fact, I've probably been following him longer than most here. He fixed my slice before he even started this site many years ago. It was his Never Slice Again method, but it was an article, not his current DVD, that he posted on another golf forum. The twist-away fixed me right away and I only slice a few times a year now, usually from doing what I mentioned in the 1st paragraph. If you haven't bought his DVD I highly recommend it.

It's amazing how much people spend to fix their slice, if they only knew...

Good luck!

Roamer,

As for the difference between the woods and irons, I've come across a couple things as I've been learning the NSA pattern. They may not apply to you, but it may be worth a check.

First, if you are using multiple ball positions, make sure that when you move the ball forward with woods, you are not opening your hips and shoulders as well. Pulling your right foot back will help with this.

Second, since the sweetspot is farther away from the hosel in woods, they require more "twist" to "turn it off the plane." So you may need to twist more at some point in the swing with the woods.

Also, if you haven't already, check out Brian's video on adjustments for the driver (Episode 7 I think). He addresses these things and more.

Good luck.

NSA twistaway question

I have the NSA web version. Is that the same as the DVD?

When I try doing the twistaway it is difficult because I have muscular arms and it is hard to turn my wrist very far.

Also it feels very restrictive. How will I get throwout action with my left forearm in tension holding the twistaway?

if you keep it down too long, you will hit a fade. Because you are restricting your turn. So what you want to do is make sure you swing the golf club instead of stopping it like a punch shot. Make sure you turn after impact. :D

roamer...

i had trouble with some of the drills in flipper, especially the thumbs up, thumbs down with the right foot down, until i got it in my coconut what fats (force across the shaft) was and felt like. for me, it was very difficult to keep my right foot down and the clubhead below my hands if i applied force along the shaft.
