Driver ball position?

Hi everyone... been lurking around here for awhile. Not a true TGM'er but I am trying to expand my knowledge daily. Love Brian's youtube videos as well as this forum.

My question is this... is there a point that is considered too far forward for driver ball position? I have been having driver problems on and off lately. Went to the range today and moved the ball considerably forward to pretty much even with the middle of my front foot. Whereas before is was the typical inside of the left heel type of setup. So this is a good 3 or 4 inches up. Ball flight and contact seemed much, much better. Is this acceptable? Thanks.

nothing wrong with a further forward than normal ball position as long as:

you're still hitting/sweeping down on it (even if clubhead is ascending at impact).

you can stop youself from coming too outside-in. This will require some manipulation if your ball is too far forward, which is why I prefer a "ball under left shoulder" location for driver.

depends on your stance width, and therefore ball position relative to low point.

thing is i've found is too far forward is it becomes difficult to turn the face over, but you dont seem to be having any troubles so keep it goin!
