I enjoyed watching Tiger more in 1999 and 2000 than lately.
I Don't think he will match that level of play ever again.

I actually think he is going to play next week. He needs to enter by tomorrow and his PR guy said that it was important that Tiger make his statement tomorrow and that it couldn't wait until Monday. So it would be logical that Tiger get his apologies and statements public before he enters a tournament.

I would bet my last nickel he wouldnt make his comeback in Phoenix!

I just think that crowd is the last place is he would want to be in the middle of. I could be wrong, could be a great place for him to get some tail!

I think he is going to play in the Tavistock cup where he can control the environment.
as for him doing a real interview, well until he answers the press's questions he is going to hounded about it. Americans love a screw up who makes a huge apology and we live to give second chances but if he doesn't show some humility the fans will turn on him and weather he play good or not his appeal will be tarnished. I hope he just falls on his sword and gets it over with so he can go back to chasing majors and we can all watch.

Agree, he should be back at Tavistock, although I dont think the fans care about all of the other stuff. He is more famous now than ever, a mystery man etc. In life people long for what they cant have and Tiger was unsighted for a few months. He will be more famous and popular now with the man in the street.

Tiger hasn't learned a damn thing from all this. He got a pass from the press when he snubbed Jackie Robinson's widow. He got a pass when he snubbed Payne Stewart's family. He got a pass for not playing New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. The press and fellow golfers walked on egg shells around him. That time has ended.Tiger has run out of passes. Unless he answers questions, there will be even more questions. It's time to Man-up, Mr. Woods. Even Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire now think you're a joke.

Fishy

“As we understand it, Tiger’s therapy called for a week’s break at this time during which he has spent a few days with his children and then will make his statement before returning,” Finchem said in the letter Thursday. “Accordingly, there was very little flexibility in the date for the announcement.”

Just released this morning. Sounds like a response to harsh criticism received from just about everybody. Doesn't pass the smell test IMO. So go back to the clinic on Tuesday..or make your big statement earlier this week.

I kind of like the idea of him taking attention away from the first sponsor that gave him the boot. He doesn't owe the press or his fans ANYTHING. Who cares if he cheated on his wife or banged every whore in Nevada? All I know is that he should have picked better looking women, and should have managed his man-whoring better. Maybe someone should write a book on how to cheat without getting caught? Ernie Els should shut up, and enjoy placing 30th in events. Tiger is the PGA tour, and as such he has carte-blanche. Bow down to the god-man.

He's handles the media perfectly: You get what I decide to give you.

Just exactly what are these questions that need to be answered? Does a person "snub" someone when they don't do the politically correct thing?

Just for the record my personel belief is that for these athletes to say they are not role models is crap. I firmly believe that if they only accepted the salary or prize money for playing the game that they could say that but the second anyone takes one penny to represent a product of any kind they have sold themselves as an image and therefore as a role model. you can't take the cash from Accenture to be thier "image" and then say I got paid only to play. 100 million dollars a year was for his "Image". give back all the endorsement cash and you can say you only get paid to play.

Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire two steroid taking cheaters in the sport they played in, who lack any credibility, one admitted, one still denying, good examples for comparison, and their casting stones? Wow.

I wouldn't ask Tiger any questions about his mistresses, sponsors or family, I'd ask him how he found his doctor. Then I would ask him, have you ever taken steroids or HGH.

Holy crap.

While I'm against Tiger for what he did and it's one of those things I think tells a lot about a person, this didn't call for a press conference. I know why Tiger did hold a PC and I understand why, but I can't see why the media made it such that a PC was necessary. I guess I think there's a lot of feigning of anger and outrage on both sides. This is hardly the worst thing ever done in sports, yet ESPN would make it seem so. Then on the flip side, it just seemed to me that a lot of the men were feigning anger so they don't get lumped in with thinking cheating is okay, but after one PC they immediately forgave him.

I thought what he did was wrong, selfish and chicken...but I don't need a PC where a guy is reading from a sheet of paper to forgive him. I'm not even a big Tiger fan, but I forgave him long ago because overall I think he is a good person, but just a lousy husband.

How many athletes, CEO's, politicians, etc. are lousy husbands?

I'd say too many to count.

They don't need a PC and neither really did Tiger.

I got a kick out of listening to ESPN today and one of the commentators said that the sports journalism industry is becoming more tabloid journalism. I hate to tell that announcer (actually a guy I've met about a dozen times before and get along with him well), but sports journalism has been more like tabloid journalism for YEARS, and ESPN is the main culprit.

I just see that some things require attention and a PC, like Mike Vick killing dogs or Plaxico Burress shooting himself in a nightclub. But things like 'insert NFL QB here' being drunk at a party or Tiger cheating on his wife just are not those type of things.

The problem is that the press, for a lack of a better word, should be the educator to the public and should be above things like this. Unfortunately they are not and will never be again.

Well said, Richie!

I would say that it is all journalism that has become tabloid centric unfortunately.

So the players are reduced to giving soundbites to stay clear of ANY issues, where I am sure that at least some of them would prefer a more honest dialogue.

I don't know how to educate the public such that they don't buy crap other than educating them. Society is getting dumber and dumber and it is circular.
