Side Hill Lies - Unusual Approach?

Hey folks

Played with 2 people yesterday and got to the 1st Par 3 and one turns to me an says do you mind if we play off the side of the tee on par 3s?
I said sure, but why, he replied well this is a flat course and we like to practice side hill lies for when we play other courses.
Kinda surprised me, game is hard enough from a flat lie for me, but these 2 players were good, shot 4 and 5 over.

Anyone else do this?

No but..

I would like to know how to approach side hill up hill down hill etc. It is the one of the things I have absolutely no idea about !!

I absolutely try to find side hill, uphill, and downhill lies and practice from them. The problem is that there are few practice areas that provide them.

Would I do this in an actual round of golf from a tee area with other players?
No, I don't think so.

RayW1, as to the question about how to play these lies, that is one of the most covered topics in golf instruction. Google, "Sidehill lie Golf" for example. I think this subject is in every golf instruction book I have ever read.

Ok, I will give it a go

I don't do this, but I do numerous things to 'rattle my cage' in a golf round that some people think are strange. But, it makes tournament prep much easier for me. So, I like their line of thinking.

Practicing sidehill lies = good idea

Hitting off the side of the hill on a par 3 tee = trying to draw attention to themselves

I would like to see Brian do a video on this subject. I can hit about 90% when the ball is below my feet with a fade or draw but when it gets about 4 inches above my feet I suck toe jam!
