Grip strange blister/callous

Hi, I am right handed and use a conventional overlap grip. Lately I've been getting blistered/calloused on the outside of my right ring finger, next to my pinky, between the first and second knuckles counting from the tips. I believe there is friction/ rubbing between this area and my left index finger through my swing. This never used to happen before. Has anyone else had this issue?

Do you have a really weak grip with your right hand?

I had this very same thing last year right on the same finger/outside 1st knuckle counting from the tip.. difficult to grip the club.. very painful and wouldn't seem to heal. I found a tip on another DB that helped. Sounds strange, but it works..

Buy some fake fingernails, preferably a pack with several different larger sizes. Put one over the blister/sore area, then use tape to secure. The fake fingernail will protect the area. Eventually, it will heal. I still have a callous there, but it's not real big.

I have the same problem but my area is right on the outside of the first knuckle (again counting from the tip). I have to tape that area before I play but I'm wondering what grip issues may cause this as well. My grip strives to be "Manzella neutral" but it's definitely not a weak grip.

I found that tape only didn't work so well at the outset.. the fake fingernail absorbed the blow.. like a cast.. eventually, I was able to go to tape only. Now, I don't need anything unless I play/practice 5-6 days in a row.

bamfur,
I had that issue also, big time, and only found relief by really focusing on sustaining the hand pressure points through the swing. Good luck.

Has anyone else seen pictures of Vijay Singh's grip immediately after impact? His right hand is usually completely off the club and only his thumb and index finger remain in contact with the grip. What's going on with his grip going into impact, (i.e. is he "throwing" the #3 pp into impact) and what does that imply for the advice of keeping a firm grip through the swing?
