... now could you kindly consider banning all youtube videos of tour pros and their swing pictures as well .. because they not only create confusion, they are unrealistic for those on this forum.

The only videos and photos allowed should be your own golfswing ... and forget emulating tour pros or analyzing their golfswing to explain swing methods. It's ludicrous ...!!!!

These tour pro images are no different than posting equipment pics and asking about the "latest" or "best" clubs.

BManz ...???!!!!!

I dont understand how watching different golfers swings from different camera angles is any different than pros? I would say the most consistent and useful way to compare and analize golf swings on video are from the same camera angles every time. If you compare to see what the best players in the world do, making sure that your viewing them from the same camera angle as yourself if possible is the best way to do it. IMHO.

Is it time for Brian to get SteveT on a Ustream broadcast to find out what this his agenda and golfing knowledge breadth really is?

While I think SteveT's request/suggestion is extreme he does have a valid point.(No hate mail please.:))...There are definitely two sides to this and I think most people on this forum would agree. On one hand you have analysis, education, and entertainment in viewing swings and that can be very useful. Especially if you have an open minded view of what can work and why it may work. I think SteveT's point is that there is real danger in trying to copy someones motion that is not compatible with their own physical or mental capabilities.

I am sure this is nothing new here, but it may not hurt to always keep these things in mind.

1- It is extremely difficult to get the correct or same camera angles.
2- You don't usually know what kind of shot someone was trying to play.
3- You also don't know how this person was playing at the time.
4- At the end of the day...Form will follow function...
5- People like to copy whatever the best player's in the world are doing. (Not usually a good thing.) An example would be when Duval and Annika were both #1 and people started saying you had to "release the head". (Not that there is anything wrong with that.)

Keep having fun!!:D

Very good points, however I think SteveT is hinting that most posters on this forum has as much chance of copying a touring pro's swing as Kim Jong il joining Greenpeace.

I agree, people analyse swing sequences without knowing what shot the pro was trying to hit and they then make generalisations about that pro's swing based on this.

Funny! Personally, I think "Lil' Kim" wants "peace" A piece of South Korea, a piece of...!" Gotta love Mel Brooks!

Meh, I like looking at the swing sequences but also understand what we don't know about what's going on, ie Tom's points.

Mainly, I'm chuckling at Steve's title. To actually ban the word "ban" from his title just to make a point. What genius!

I actually agree it is futile for most of us to try and copy our favorite players swings. How many Hogan fanatics are there that posesses a swing even remotely similar? They study every Hogan movement and mannerism yet fail miserably to implement them when it counts....out on the golf course under even barely an ounce of pressure.

You gotta find your own pattern that works under pressure and know how to fix it when it breaks down and not go crying to your instructor.Under pressure we tend to "black out" a bit and can't focus on our actions as clearly as on the range unless your name happens to be Jack or Tiger. Our natural tendencies revert back when we "black out".That's why I believe we need to develop a workable swing around our natural tendencies rather than copy a favorite players action that perhaps is not suitable for us.

Steve, just guessing that you might be a statist... how do you feel about the Patriot Act? Alright, kidding, don't answer that. Brian of course is the supreme chancellor of the board and he owns the site so he can ban whatever he wants - his right, but suggesting a ban like this seems silly because it may confuse people who are uninformed to look at the swing sequence of a pro? People obviously like looking at them and if you are so concerned about their wellbeing or misinterpretation of what they are seeing, then help 'em out and offer it up in the thread. If you don't care to, then so be it.

Also, if someone wants to try to copy David Tom's swing, then they are free to do so, banning a video of his swing here is not going stop them from trying to swing like him if they want to.

BL, it may be "dangerous" to try to copy someones move without understanding it, but perhaps them posting a sequence up here Brian and the other great instructors can help them to understand why it works or doesn't work... if you all are really concerned about the poor lost souls trying to Ape other people's swings then you should welcome an open dialogue about it, not try to hide the swings from their eyes.

I've got a simple take on this. If you think you'd be a better golfer if you'd never seen a good player in action, then of course you'll agree with the OP.
