Wow, didnt watch but after looking at your post I googled it and apparently he hit a 122 yard drive today. Article said it was a low duck hook.

EDIT: Apparently it didnt go past the ladies tee either. :)

Yeah, but Sean said he's striping it on the range. He is soooo close to winning the Isleworth Member Guest in April.

So he's got that going for him, which is nice...

Oh, and to answer the OP's question....18. We were looking for 18.

Anyone think Foley is having trouble sleeping tonight? That dude is going to end up in The Tubes with that whack job on TGC.

If this whole golf thing doesn't pan out, he's got something to fall back on...

I didn't like the Haney swing changes but he kept scoring and hitting amazing shots, it seem the more he goes down the Foley road the worse he is getting and I don't get how a champion of his caliber doesn't stop and look where he was and go back to a method or style that worked for him rather than barrel forward on what seems to be the titanic.

"You know, Tiger actually hit two tee shots today I would say, combined, didn't go farther than 200 yards."
Steve Elling calls the second hole tee shot today "one of the ugliest, head-turning shots of Tiger Woods' career."

Playing his second hole of the second round at the Cadillac Championship on Friday, Woods lunged so far off the ball at impact that he took a divot in the tee box and hit a snapping hook than got perhaps 10 feet off the ground and barely traveled 50 yards in the air.

It fast dived dead left into the rough and stopped just a few yards past the end of the main tee box -- and well short of the women's tee. Though the PGA Tour's laser tracking system estimated the drive at 120 yards, the measurement was taken by a device situated at least 150 yards away. In actuality, it likely didn't crack triple figures.

Talk about awkward...

His playing partners stared at each other, wordlessly. Mickelson was next on the tee to hit.

"It was difficult following that," Lefty said, smirking. "But it's really not for me to talk about anybody's bad drives."

Gene Wojciechowski described it this way:

I saw Woods do things today that 22-handicappers do. I saw him snap-hook a drive on No. 2 that traveled, according to on-course measuring monitors, 122 yards. No way -- had to be closer to 90.

I saw him hit a 3-wood on No. 14 that went as high as a Fourth of July firework but no longer than a hotel hallway. That one produced some juicy Tiger language.

Oh we viewers heard it loud and clear!

Geno shared this from the other member of the group:

"Yeah, it's pretty tough not to giggle," said Graeme McDowell, who, along with Phil Mickelson, was in Woods' group. "We all hit bad shots. Hit a couple of those in my time. You know, Tiger actually hit two tee shots today I would say, combined, didn't go farther than 200 yards."
From: "You know, Tiger actually hit two tee shots today I would say, combined, didn't go farther than 200 yards."

In the last two starts we've seen flops with his stinger club, and stingers with his flop club. Going out on a limb, I'll say these aren't intentional additions to the ol' arsenal.

Finally got to see those shots. It actually makes me kind of sick to my stomach. I don't know if we can blame all of this on Foley though. There are scars elsewhere in Tiger's life too. For the most part when your life is going south your golf does too. As much as Tiger puts on a good front he must know deep down he really screwed up a good thing for some trailer trash booty. That cannot feel good.

No no no. That sounds too much like his coach. This entire "he wont play well until he has balance" baloney. He may not win until then, but all the personal turmoil cant account for two shots like that. Not hating, but this is ridiculous. He went from couldnt miss to pop ups and his playing partners laughing.

Kevin,

Despite the scars that these shots are invariably embedding in his memory, how long do YOU truly give him to attempt to vastly change his swing to the Foley Method. He keeps using the terms "two years", as if any swing change takes two years to ingrain. He has to know, in his heart of hearts, that he may have gone down the wrong road. How soon before he changes course again?

As a wonderful teacher yourself (along with the rest of the Manzella instructors), for the sake of the golfing world and Tiger Woods, would you want to work with him despite knowing the pitfalls of coaching the former #1 and all the baggage that goes with it? Second part, would it take two years?

Guys,
I have been at Doral everyday watching him on the range and followed him the last two days on the course. Foley was filming quite a bit and they are looking at a lot of video after every shot. I was shocked that he was looking at video of his swing right before he went out to play on Wednesday. He cannot hit a consistent shot pattern on the range and has the glove under his right armpit during his range sessions. Yesterday was the first day he hit a consistent shot pattern on the range until he got to the driver and every shot was a big block fade. I was right there on two when he hit the chunk driver that did not even get to the ladies tee. On five he aimed so far left and blocked the crap out of it into the right fairway bunker. The way he hit it yesterday 74 was a hell of a score

His new swing definitely doesn't give him much width or height and is it just me or is the club not really working that far in? Without enough width, height, and depth he doesn't seem to have enough distance to work through in his downswing to deal with the steepness. The concavity of his hand path may be a result of trying to give himself more distance. I'm sure the feeling of his strikes is solid but that's just the compression that comes from getting steep on it and as we've learned compression for compression's sake isn't optimal.

Its embarassing enough for us to watch but how do you think he feels? Scary stuff. All credit to him for not falling apart and walking off "injured".

he is playing huge hooks and still is 2 under for the day. if he can get it back together he can start winning again. it is really amazing how good he is at scoring even when he is hitting it this bad.

Over use of video is a swing wrecker.

All I know is Leadbetter said that if another Nick Faldo came to him for an overhaul it would take 6 months...not 2 years. I tend to agree. I just cant imagine it being this long. I know that if something feels good or is right, I can take it to the course almost immediately. If it doesnt or isnt right for me, I struggle.

Then again if it is a prescribed method then maybe 2 years...

That may very well be a big part of the problem, too. Foley supposedly doesn't subscribe to a method, but he still doesn't know how to prescribe the right movement patterns for a golfer's individualized pattern.
