My Swing: a year removed from LI clinic

A little background: I've been reading these forums for years, and last summer went to the 2 day clinic with brian and mike in long island, ny - after which I played the best golf of my life for about 3 weeks. Then I lost it, COMPLETELY, went from shooting high 70's/low 80's to 100+ and hearing endless trash talk from my brother. Then the winter came, flash forward to me taking some lessons at GolfTec and not at all understanding what my instructor was teaching, I swear it did more harm than good because now I can't even remember what Brian told me to work on last summer.

So here I am, lessons are done, going back to the soft draw videos I bought last year and trying to fix it for good. I can't get the feeling for the "toss" and especially the "javelin throw" at all. If you watch the swing below you can see I have a pretty bad habit of falling forward on my downswing while also standing up instead of staying down with it. Are there any specific drills to help with these points in particular? Thanks very much for the help

Form that swing, I would suggest Never Hook Again.

Oh, and move a little closer to the ball and try to have the hands work more down and left in the downswing.

Is that a weak left hand grip or your normal grip? Looks weak? Looks like your setup has open shoulders with a squarish stance are you trying to do this? You also have popout of the lafw in the b.s. could be from a weak grip or your open shoulders. I think B.M. could fix that in 5min.

I don't know, but by looking at the club face at the top of the backswing in relation to the left wrist position, it looks like it's pretty neutral to strongish position.

Thanks for the responses thus far guys....and footwedge you are right - BM did fix it in 5 mins at the clinic. I just wish I could remember exactly what he had me do.

LAFW gets over rotated, tries to recover at the top, then reverse rotates early in the downswing. This makes it a "search" thru impact and makes it tough for the pivot to contribute at all. If it were me id get the shaft opening and closing properly and then add some pivot to assist the arms later.

Why not go see Mike Jacobs as soon as the weather permits?

I see no shoulder turn hardly in the backswing. To iniate a proper downswing you have to get behind the ball which you don't. Maybe a little bigger left shoulder turn. I know most people here would suggest fixing the hand path which will get you turning more, but doesn't work for me.

Yeah I have softdraw video as well as never hook again....thanks again for the input. Kevin, "LAFW", sorry I'm a noob - what is that?

Hi again guys, don't mean to bump - but I since creating this thread I've been watching the soft draw videos several times as well as the "under the plane" video by brian as well. I feel my swing being much different, but I wanted to post a few clips from tonight's range session to see if I am heading in the right direction. Thanks!
