Reduced Clubface Differential = reduced Spin Loft. Greater Smash Factor, greater Ball Speed and lower Spin Rate. But lower Vertical Launch Angle. Still, usually more overall distance.

I thought this exchange had a particularly personal undertone to it....

I don't know, I've never worked with Lee Westwood.
@I'mStuckat14majors: Did it take you longer than you thought to dismantle the swing of the world's greatest player?

WHy do we give this oxygen thief publicity? He should be greatful to the opportunity he had to work with one of the greatest players of all time.

Hmmm, that seems a little strong. Aaron, who do you find more admirable--the "oxygen thief" or "one of the greatest players of all time?"

Tiger Woods everyday, he's the man out there doing it day in day out, Haney is standing on the sidelines sniping at the man who has made him a very a wealthy person.

I disagree, as a human being, Tiger has failed on a much larger scale. I know people will say we should talk about his golf and not his personal life but I'll only accept that if everyone will make the same argument to their 10 year old sons.

An argument does not gain or lose validity as the audience changes. It has to stand on its own merit.

The ball has NO IDEA what side of the block of metal the shaft is on.

I agree that the ball doesn't know but doesn't the side that the shaft is on change the way the ball flys? Here is what I'm asking. If a righthanded player hits a shot, all other things being equal, with a 3 degree closed and a 3 degree open clubface won't the open face have greater lift because of the mass of the club being opposite? The greater lift creates more airtime but less roll. I'm seeking information not questioning your expertise.

What does "the mass of the club being opposite" mean?
So all things being equal and only changing face angle:
Think of the clubhead as just a chunk of metal with a slightly angled face like a driver. Now have a ball sitting on the ground and slide that chunk of metal into the ball. Does it really matter whether the face is pointing left or right? The only thing that changes is the direction the ball bounces off at. The "side spin"(spin axis) is also equivalent right to left. No change in lift.

Meh the logical explanation to a 10 year old is the same as for an adult: Tiger Woods = Awesome Golfer in a slump; Tiger Woods = philandering husband...
