How do you guys aim your putts?

Once you figured out the line, what do you do?

I usually pick a point maybe a foot or so from the ball along that line (it helps if there are irregularities on the green) and aim my sweet spot square towards that point. I use a two ball putter so it helps in my alignment. I'm certain there must be a better way to aim and align but not sure where to begin.

I do it just like you do noobie. I use a Odyssey Rossie blade so I just have the line to use, but it works well. I tried using a line on the ball, but I seem to have a hard time lining up the line on the ball with my intended line, so I stopped using it. That, and it left a mark on the face insert that was difficult to remove. If I'm just not feeling the mojo that day, I will use the OEM alignment mark on the ball.

Right eye closed/left eye open (I'm left eye dominant). Left eye over the line of the putt. Pick a spot 2 inches in front of the ball. Align the line on my ball with the spot. Use whatever aiming mark you have on the topline of your putter, TRUST YOUR LINE, and swing away.

I used the calibration tip from the Putting Prescription (Dr. Craig Farnsworth) to determine which eye open/closed and orientation allowed me to most accurately aim at my spot.

I read the putt, pick a spot that I can hit the ball against "like a straight putt", then line up towards that just by doing by stepping into my stance and looking at the spot... and I'm having my best putting ever.

Interesting! Would it work the same in reverse for the right eye dominant putter?

Best thing ever was getting a breakmaster and mapping greens I have trouble reading. From there you get a feel of distance and slope (breakmaster). no more doubt better stroke and no more camillo v on the greens. Aim part from research here you want to be just outside on the apex, depends on the length.

+1 I also went to an Aimpoint clinic which did a lot for my green reading skills.

Personally, I like to aim my straight putts off to one side of the cup so that my playing partners don't think I've gotten too good for them. Especially on those 4 footers.:eek::eek:
