Where to go when you hit the wall......

I have been striking the ball better than ever for the last 6 weeks up until Sunday. I played Sunday, hit balls Tuesday and Wednesday and hit it just terrible. It seems that I forgot everything I was doing well.

Where is the first place to start to get back on track? Pivot? Clubface? Takeaway? What specific drills should I use? Why does this happen??????

Sit down if you get too dizzy. ;)

jk I'm an arse.

...

First of all.....it helps to know what you were doing in the first place when u were hitting it well.

I'd say check setup first. (grip and everything else....everything)

...

It's tough to give advice over the internet....u have more details about how u were hitting it and what seemed different?

When this happens to me, I go back to Hogan's feet together drill and work on 1/2 and 3/4 swings until I am satisfied with contact. With me it is usually because I get overly active.

When this happens to me I go and get a 2 hour Traditional Thai massage ($12). Afterwards pop a couple of Heinekens and talk with non golfers for a few hours. The next day I hit progressive chip shots to pitch shots working on the things that got there and then bask in the glory of my successes!:D

That is kinda the way I was thinking. For some reason I have gone back to flipping a little, my pivot feels like a sway. Tomorrow I am going back to the range and am going to hit pitches until I am lagging again.

Backswing blues...? Probably not 1 out of 1000 golfers has a great one. & without nailing that...you'll always be susceptible to regression.

This is not meant as a diagnosis per se...

Nice to see someone agrees with me that the backswing is very important.

Honestly, sometimes what happens during a "transition" period is that you have learned how to do something correctly and thus what you did before is no longer valid.

For instance the twist-away will only really work for so long for a slicer. Eventually they will learn some form of clubface control and begin to hook the ball severly with the twist away or any number of other things. So even though they were hitting it great the twist away taught them something that they will need and they now have to adapt and keep improving.

Hopefully that made sense.

I just went through the exact same thing, hitting great with divots past the ball and lots of compression and then BAM it's gone. But luckily I found it again, my problem was at address I had no aixs tilt, My spine was straight up and down or even forward. Once I tilted back at address I'm back behind that ball and life is good again, compression and flat left wrist.
