What would you tell this guy?

I know a guy who has a way too strong right hand grip and he takes it back really steep while reverse pivoting a little and then comes down really steep. The result is a lot of very low smothered shots sometimes squirting a slice, sometimes a smothered duck hook. His good shots are a low burner that stays semi straight and semi long. What would you would tell someone like this for the short and long term.

Thanks, and sorry for the deletes...BriManz :)

Short Term:

Better Grip. Just enough twistaway to end the slice.

Long Term:

Fix the pivot as well.

ok, so fix his grip right away. That makes sense since it is so fundamental. I was doing that and he was kind of freaking out about how awkward a correct grip felt to him. Like in a way where he was acting like it couldn't actually be a good idea since it felt so weird to him and it would take 5 years to get used to. So I guess if he doesn't want to play well that's his prerogative:>

Hmmmm...

Well....ah....no.

You have a student that doesn't want to change their grip, I've had HUNDREDS.

So you tell him, OK, with your same grip the first thing you need to learn is to "swing under the stick."

Trust me, even crybabies can handle that.

tell him the lesson is over, if he does not want to learn
