Pitch Shot Technique

What do you consider to be the most important aspects involved in half wedges and pitch shots, from the 25 to 75 yard range? I could use some improvement in that area for sure.

Would this have to do with....

First you need to learn the three basic pitch shots.

1. Front edge divot.

2. Mid-sole divot.

3. Trailing edge scrape.

Learning the different trajectories each of these produce? 1. Front edge divot means hands way forward. Used to get a lower trajectory and more run? etc....

Or does this have to do with the hinging applied 1. horizontal 2. angled 3. verticle...

Or a combo of both application of hinging and hand position?

Reason asking: I haven't been focusing on the ground/sole contact but...I have been practicing with getting different shots with the same club using different hand positions at impact. Hands way forward produce a lower, runnning pitch, etc....
