Hitting a draw proper

I asked about hitting a draw and Brian responded with:

Right foot back away from targetline 1 to2 inchesrear end right untillbelt buckle faces right of ball.move rear end left to balance 50/50staying belt buckle still right of ballsquare up left footslight inward towards ball.
NOW GET YOUR RIGHT SHOULDER AND RIGHT HIP AS FAR AWAY FROM THE BALL AS YOU CAN AND HIT THE INSIDE OF THE BALL ON THE WAY DOWN. You mite have to get closer to ball.

OK, I`ve been working on this for some time and getting better and when I do it right oh my god what a difference 10-15 yards longer in the air. Now my question is this my club head is suppose to be at the target, how far to the right should I be lined up not to over draw is there a formular for this?
And one more thing why am I hitting it so high is my swing to steep?..thanks (with my driver)...JOE

Joe,
We've had a couple of threads on this...

With a draw you set up aiming right of target with your clubface closed to your swing path...
If you aim the clubface at the target when you set up the ball starts out in a direction that is approx. 80% in favour of the clubface angle, NOT the swing path......therefore the ball will set off slightly right of your target (NOT along your swing path) and will then hook/draw and end up left of your intended target....
Therefore the ideal way is to set up right of target as normal, but aim your clubface right of target as well, between your swing path and your real target line...

(Dia exaggerted for clarity)..

Wouldn't it be better to hit a draw without manipulating your stance. I play a 'real' draw and don't concern myself with any of that. My draw starts out straight and falls left.

Think you'll find most of us here are just amateurs sm, with limited time to perfect just one basic swing.....:D

Yeah, based on that, it sounds like if dropped your trail foot back a couple of inches as is commonly suggested, your ball would actually end up at the target.

Self, and how do you hit the draw with out your body position for it?

We had a how to hit a draw question posted a few months ago. I'm sure that Brians suggestions will eventually work for you...

How do I hit my draw... I dunno? I just spent the last 9 years tinkering until it became my go to shot. From slicer-to hooker - to pull hooker - to a draw.

My shots land where I want them to.

I think that the standard way of teaching a draw will turn him into a pull hooker. I've been there, done that, and have experienced the anguish of playing golf like that.
