As I work on my fundamentals, I have come across a swing feeling that I'm unsure of.

I feel as if I can hold the lag all the way through impact and longer. This does seem to lead to some thin shots.

I can also hold the angle (lag) until my hands are even with or past impact, and then let the angle go and allow the clubhead to "catch up". Is this a reasonable feel and preferable to hanging on to the angle?

Leek you shouldn't be trying to "hold on" to anything. Trigger delay (or lag as populated by the announcers on TV) is a RESULT of 2 things:

1) Proper downswing Pivot
2) a more straight line delivery path

This is probably one of the most mis-understood things in golf and i'm going to bring my camera to a lesson tomorrow and do a very short clip on it.

Thanks Jim. After spending a few hours with Brian yesterday, I learned a lot of things. One of the really big things I learned? All of my "progress" and all of my questions for my own swing were WRONG.

I essentially need to start building a new swing from the ground up. I hope I have the ability and discipline to do this. As an example, I have a club tournament this weekend, do I try very hard to use the changes Brian showed me or do I go with what I have right now to hack the ball around for two days.

If I were you - and I'm not - I would not even bother with the club tournament knowing that whatever I did would be a compromise and I would not have any confidence in either old or new approach in such a short time.

I'd use the time to beat as many balls as possible using the new techniques / drills until I felt I could trust it. But that's me - you know how you feel.....:)

Lee, you did better than you think!

Let's see:

I barely changed your grip.

I left your backswing pivot alone, mostly.

We raised your Power Package (arms, hands, and club) UP tp the Turned Shoulder Plane.

We made your downswing FIT that backswing, which required a tab more Axis Tilt.

Totally New Swing?

Nah, just upgraded old one. ;)
