    The Grip: Interlock vs. overlap

On TV this weekend the commentators mentioned that it seems like all the great players - Nicklaus, Tiger, and now Kim - have used the interlocking grip. Kostis (i know) stated that he feels that the interlock is a better grip especially given todays equipment and increases in swing speeds and...

    Swing for speed

I went to a local golf store at lunch the other day and hit 4 drivers; 2 were 45" and 2 were 46". I hit the 45" drivers in the range of 103-105 (more towards lower end) and really felt I had to step on it. The 46" drivers were in the 107-109mph. While it was in a net so I could not see shot...

    Tracing straight plane line observations

Hit balls this afternoon and it was the usual search until I noticed white lines that were on the range telling people where they should hit. I lined up to the white line and started tracing it with a 3/4 swing. I was really trying to keep the butt end of the club on the line for a long time on...

    heavy hit

I was watching an interview with Fred Funk and he said he took some lessons from J. Miller after the Players and all they worked on was achieving a "heavy hit." Miller always talks about this on the telecasts. What do you think he is getting at? Compression?

Clubface control in short game vs. long game

I have very good clubface control with my short game (75yds and in) but lack it in my long game. Anything I can take from my short game and incorporate in my long game. Harvey Penick always said the full swing is just a longer short game swing.

    Balance aids: Any good?

Just purchased some balance disks from Izzo. I have been working on them and i really like the way they help with balance and sensing how your weight moves. Just wondering if anyone else uses them or something like them and thinks they are beneficial.

Why did this drill work so well?

Had a lesson recently and some drills the pro had me do was to drop my right foot way back and balance my right foot on my toes and hit balls. The other was a normal setup but aim right and hit big draws/hooks. Worked great then but have not been able to get it out to the course. After playing 9...

    Shoulder motion on backswing

Is there way to tell if your shoulders are turning correctly in the backswing? I feel like mine aren't turning down and around enough, more just around - almost like a baseball swing.

    Balance and tempo

Do sound mechanics create good balance and tempo or vice versa? Has anyone ever changed their tempo (faster or slower) and seen improvement or do we all have a "set" tempo? Any drills to improve balance and tempo?

    Brandt Snedeker and Kostis

Kostis on Brandt Snedeker's swing. PK states that he doesn't get to his right side that well. It looks like he gets way over there, look at his right knee turning the other way and the shoulder turn. _xcsVhRmOq4&

Bigger turn - swing around spine?

Brian, Would your advice of swinging around your spine create a bigger turn (eg. not promote the look of the stack and tilt guys as an example and way of comparison)? Had a lesson and my back swing looked more like the stack and tilt turn (unintentional) so I am trying to get more over right...

Could someone explain sweetspot rotation? Interested in its role in the swing and where it happens. Interested in book translation as well as practical. Is it something you can concentrate on in your swing or does it just happen?

Checking Turn around spine when alone

Hi Brian, Watched NSA and it really cleared up a bunch of terms. I have always liked your turn around the spine advice and how you can check it with a partner. However, I was wondering if there are ways to check that you have done it correctly if you don't have someone there to help you. Thanks...
