Get stronger -> use Turned Shoulder Plane

Once upon a time, a golfer said: "As I got stronger, I went from using the Elbow Plane to the Turned Shoulder Plane at Impact." Discuss.

New 7th Edition Foreword -- what a Joke!

Exactly the same foreword by Ben Doyle. Except for one thing: "...I had only been studying and teaching The Golfing Machine for 5 years; it's been 10 years now..." is now, "...I had only been studying and teaching The Golfing Machine for 5 years; it's been 37 years now..." Is that the only...

    Real 7th Edition vs Bootleg

Brian said there are significant differences between the two. I see lots of similarities (at first glance anyway). Would you care to point out the differences? Rumour says there's an ulterior motive in making the changes between the bootleg and the real thing, so by knowing the differences we...

VOTE: Why Pros use Elbow Plane

Why do you think most pros and good players use the Elbow Plane Angle at impact? My answer to be revealed when we get enough votes.

    Drivers: what's next?

So, they've reached the 460cc limit. Do you think they will start cutting down size in the future? New materials? As far as I can see, it's stayed pretty much constant over the last 10 years. Just variations of titanium. Thinner face? There's a limit to that. Higher MOI? Is there a limit on...

    Luke Donald

Anyone got any good swing sequences or videos of Luke Donald? The only one I could find is in GD: http://www.golfdigest.com/swingsequences/index.ssf?/instruction/swingsequences/gd200302lukedonald.html My favourite part of his swing is how unwaveringly On Plane his club is.

    VIDEO: Fred Couples' Tour Pitch

Lots of talk about what the Tour Pitch is, how to execute it, etc. Here's a footage during the second round of the 2006 Masters. Notice how he tries to decelerate through Impact and how he tucks his left arm in at the follow through. But impact alignments are still perfect -- flat left wrist...

    Right Hand Grip

Ok, so you've got a perfect left hand grip with the flat left wrist and matching score lines on the clubface after watching Brian's videos. What about the right hand? We know the right hand should be 'parallel' with the left hand (palms facing each other). But how can you be sure it's not turned...

    Video downloading freezes

Sometimes the downloading just stops or gets really slow about half way through the video. Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

    Right Thumb position

So why shouldn't the right thumb lie straight down the shaft, but rather to the left of the grip? Magazines says that the 'V' formed by the thumb and forefinger should point towards the right shoulder. But WHY? Will be back with some comments later. But would first like to hear what you guys...

    Turned Left Foot

Almost all pros recommend turning your left foot out at address to promote free hip turn during follow through. But how much? I find you get more solid achors into the ground with less turn (about 15 to 20 deg). Feet less likely to slide on the ground.

    Stationary Head on Downstroke

Theory first. Tripod concept: Head precisely between your Feet from Address to Follow Through. If you draw a triangle joining up the heels and your head, it should form an isoceles triangle (i.e. 2 equal length sides). There are very good players with Head that dips down and to the left (when...
