    Weaker right hand question

Tried weakening the right hand. It felt like I could torque harder with the hand more on top, get more on top of it and everything just felt stronger. But I hit 15 driver shanks in succession and I couldn't stop doing it no matter what I tried. Anyone know why?

Lead Arm Parallel ... Forearm or Upper Arm

The lead arm is bent during the backswing. At the top your upper arm is parallel to the ground. Your forearm is not parallel to the ground; it is about 60 degrees to the forearm, say. The club handle and lead hand are above the upper arm. On start down the forearm begins to straighten and at...

    So tell me why

I play with two guys who hit it good with a very unorthodox swing. Here is what it looks like: They take the club back low and flat; there is no attempt t lift the arms above parallel. There is a significant shift behind the ball. They throw the body forward, arms apply power, little wrist...

    Brian's new signature

"All you have is your hand path, the force along that path, and torque about that path. That's your means for creating the proper D-Plane with the proper speed, for the desired shot." I was puzzled when I first saw this. Then I thought of ... "Occams Razor: It is a principle urging one...

    More statistics!

Yes, I am a statistics geek. Love how they can enlighten and deceive. Building on my discussion with birly I show below the 2011 ranks of players in 3 categories: Strokes gained - putting Average putts Putts per round Strokes gained-putting I have described in other threads. Check PGATOUR.com...

    Goods sentence from "Moneygolf"

"Golf has always been an object of fascination, a sport that attracts, inventors, cranks, self-appointed gurus. There's an insecurity that lies at the heart of the game. When you become decent at a sport like tennis, you know that you will hit a forehand or backhand with a reasonable degree of...

The thing I liked about about ASII

Of course the science presented was important but for me the best was watching how real scientists behave. No arrogance, a careful consideration of questions, no desire to trash each other, a focus on facts rather than opinions, admitting that they do not know everything, objectivity above all...

    Going normal

Decided today that I had to figure out this normal business. Went back to a micro swing, keeping the shaft between the arms on the backswing (see "ideas about the release" and getting the feel for this by gripping down the shaft), applying a nice even torque with the right arm/hand, hips quiet...

    For what it is worth

For the less accomplished golfers here this may help (warning, I am not a teacher and the following may be all nonsense). Practicing yesterday and getting the hang of a good release. No pop out on the downswing, replacing the left arm well, applying torque, releasing in the plane of the wrists...

    Off topic: best burger

For example, The Vortex Bar & Grill located in Atlanta, Ga. is one of Ciancio’s favorite burger joints, and although it’s not a must visit on our list, you should consider dining there if you want to take your burger to the “extreme.” “They have a burger that’s served with bacon and eggs between...

Book recommendation: "Thinking, Fast and Slow" Daniel Khaneman.

If you think you know your mind, know how you make decisions, that you understand statistics, thatyou are good at predicting outcomes and remembering events this book will shock. Even has a little bit on golf, luck and "regression to the mean".

    A Diversion

An aircraft flies level at a constant speed over a giant scale, say 1 mile long. The scale has a 10 pound weight on it. Will the scale read: a) the weight of the aircraft + 10 lbs. b) 10 lbs. - the weight of the aircraft c) 10 lbs.?

Coupling point: tour pros versus us

I was just thinking about the rear-end video of McIlroy posted on another thread. It looks like he goes into a deep squat at the start of the downswing. Compare this to another golfer who squats much less. Both have to go normal and I think this means that the coupling point needs to move up...
