swinger top of swing pos. and downstroke waggle

I am inspired by Tongzilla's winter drills post. Does anyone have some top of swing position (for swingers) from down the line that they consider ideal? Also, can someone elaborate a bit on the downstroke waggle? Thanks, Erik

does TGM 'recommend' a short backswing?

Brian et al, After watching vids of Lynn and Tom Tomasello, they have what many might consider 3/4 moves, or swings in which the hands don't pass the 10 o'clock position (head at 12). I have watched ted fort bomb 300 yard drives and his arms seldom pass the 9 o'oclock position. I will say my...

    play day swing thoughts? [w/AudioAnswer]

EdZ, Jim, Brian et al: I am going to play the short course over at the Robert Trent Jones trail today. I think my main problem is my takeaway and the resulting top of swing position. I actually am trying to take the club in a more vertical fashion. I have a tendency to take it to the inside...

this might be of interest...also some questions

I am not sure if any of you have come across this site: http://www.iseekgolf.com/ check out the instructional articles. There's a nice one on the flying wedges and his article of getting on plane. I have a question about the swing plane. I understand what is meant by the shaft plane and...

hardy on the golf channel last night

Did anyone watch? I caught it mid-stream. I don't know if he defined what constitutes a one or two-plane swing, though I think it has something to with how upright you are. The more upright the golfer is, he advocates a 2 plane swing. Jacobson is now a 'one-planer' and he is more leaned over...

    aiming point question

Brian et al, When you use the concept of aiming point, that is an address idea right? That is during impact fix you like to see where your hands need to go. But when you are actually swinging you are eyeing the inside back quadrant of the ball right?

    question for EdZ and/or Jim

I have a question on the twist-away...sort of. With most tour swings, there are always exceptions, they keep the clubhead outside of the hands. Now, when I should I do the twist-away? After my hands get half-way back? Before? Does it matter? It seems like if I do it before, then the clubhead...

    help on my biggest problem

I had a lesson today and my pro told me my head and shoulders are leading the downswing. As we all know that leads to numerous problems-namely a steep, over-the-top move. I don't feel like I am leading with the upper body, but and he says mechanically my swing looks very good. Brian's twist...

let me get this straight...former flipper video

I have loads of questions but I just want to tackle a few of them at a time. OK when I first address the ball, I want to say to myself (as Brian did), "what does impact feel like for this shot?" So I move my weight, arms, hands, etc to a good impact position-flat left wrist, bent right and all...

    right wrist bend

Is it a good idea to try and maintain the bend in the right wrist through impact and beyond? That is to say, once you bend the right wrist on the takeaway and 'maintain the twist,' should I try and keep that wrist bent as long as possible? Or is it supposed to unbend at impact some?

    Question about twist away

OK, I've read the article a lot and I am still a little perplexed when I have to move my right elbow in toward my my body. I see what that does in the pictures. The right wrist gets bent and the left is supposed to get flat and stay that way all the way into impact. I buy that. However, if I...

    about golf instructors...

I used to work for the Rick Smith academy in Naples (I assisted in some summer junior clinics). I asked one of the head instructors how Rick got where he is today. Let me first tell you that Rick Smith IS a class act and a wonderful teacher. I think most of us could benefit from his...

    good god...please help

Fellas: I had a 'decent' round the other day. For the first time ever I made par on three straight holes and I made par one more time (a total of 4 for the 18 holes) and I would have made another par put I missed a short putt. My main problem was hitting thin. Man oh man I could not fix the...

    more questions

Brian, I built my own 'inside approach' and I have no problem hitting from the inside. I was at the range hitting 8 iron and 5 wood. The iron shots were all pretty straight with a little fade. The woods were still going right-more of a push instead of the 'ol banana ball. I might be having...

    question about swinging and hitting

After reading Brian's article on the downswing (he encourages an axis tilt) I came across some videos at Yoda's site where he is talking about swinging vs hitting. He talks of moving the right shoulder 'straight down plane.' He made some comment about not doing an axis tilt (or perhaps that is...

Brian, My swing has been very upright for a long time and way too steep. Any drills/thoughts to help flatten out my path? Thanks.
