30 yard pitch

Guys, I was wondering if I could get some help from all of you. I have been having problems hitting 30 to 50 yard pitches. I hit some fat and some really thin. I have a narrow stance with the ball off my left heel (and off of left ear) and have lots of forward lean at impact. I did notice that my knees seemed to be more flexed at impact than they were at address. I was wondering for any comments on pitching and the role of the lower body. Thanks for your help. Kermitm

What you need most of all is "Educated Hands" and the rest of it will then just fall into place.

Take your grip at Impact Fix and LOCK it solid - no flipping.

Swing as long as you need to for the distance involved and make sure that the clubhead is accelerating through the ball at impact - no quitting.

The rest is easy. lol :)

You need to be a pretty talented player to hit consistent shots from that distance starting with the ball so far ahead of the natural bottom of your swing arc. It is much easier if you move the ball back to the center or slightly to the right of center of your stance, allowing your lower body to make an abbreviated pivot (many prefer a full pivot on the downswing), rather than the dramatic slide forward often used to get to the ball when it is that far forward in your stance. I like an abbreviated pivot back and a full pivot through, but that is because I like a shorter backswing and a failry full finsh. Many prefer to match the backswing and downswing length, with corresponding equal pivots back and through.
