The long hitters that are only missing the fairways by 10-15 yards aren't effected that much. a combination of the equipment ( Grooves ), ball, short rough and their power allow them to recover. The only way this changes is to make the rough tougher and put in more bunkers that give you only a sideways shot back to the fairway.
