A forearm on plane BEFORE impact.

Thanks for the clarification Brian.
Would it be more accurate if the right forearm pointed at the base of the plane line through the accumulator 3 release interval?
I guess I better start doing my homework.

Welcome back.

Brian, Question with regards to the Tiger pic. I know I shouldn't be clubface oriented, and, instead monitor hands.
Having stated that, I'm curious if Tiger's clubface in this pic is slightly closed, relative to his left wrist, or slightly open, relative to the Yellow plane? Why or why not? Thanks!

Ringer:

One thing to remember is that the clubshaft will start to line up with the right forearm from release (approx parallel to ground) into impact. Although the elbow may already be on plane (thus also the right forearm), the clubshaft MAY NOT yet be in alignment with the right forearm.

Brian gave an example many months ago of taking a flexible piece of ??, like a belt. If you take that belt and whack something, the belt (clubshaft) will line up with the right forearm as you approach impact....same thing with the clubshaft.

I think (but not sure) you took Holenone's comment as thought the clubshaft was already aligned/covering the right forearm when the elbow was on plane....and because the clubshaft will align with the right forearm from release to impact, this is why we want to take the entire right forearm into impact (with the club lagging and ready to explode).

Does that make sense??

It should also be noted that a millisecond after that picture was taken, Tiger hooked it hard left due to the shutter click and finished the round 1 over the leader. Moments after the fatal swing, Steve Williams put chase on the perpetrator, but he was never caught. Now the photo shows up on this board. Hum...

Turfspanker, And that was only the Par 3 Tournament! One could only imagine what Stevie might have done if it were Thursday?

I'm aware of the Double Shift swing Brian.. but how it gets him flat at this point I dont understand. And Tiger (as of my tape in 2002) has about the closest to a ZERO Shift as I've ever seen... If anything I'd say he sometimes makes a Reverse Shift but the club is ALWAYS moving from above his right elbow into the ball.

FL-John - I'm going to need some time to think about what you said.

Spankey - I suppose you didn't happen to be around the 1st hole of the US Open last year whistling for your kid were you?
