Everyone start getting back on topic or i'm closing the thread. If you want to debate mike austin or homer kelly that's fine, start a NEW THREAD.

Stay on point please.

Not trying to be cocky.....but it's prolly just because most of us in here are big TGM supporters....no?

BTW I know what you'll prolly say.....and I'll say I'm a guy who realizes there's good non-TGM instructors out there.
I am not against TGM, nor do I think that austins swing is either. They can coexist and even compliment. look at the pivot in the tgm book, austin, and Search for the perfect swing and tell me they dont look the same?

Ah ic what u mean....and what Ringer meant.

That'll teach me to not read the whole thread.

(I wasn't aware of it being specifically "Austin vs. TGM"....I was just addressing "TGM vs golf" in general)

...

Anyway ur right for sure with your quote above.

interesting similarity between homer and austin
Homer was a good golfer rather quickly and wanted to figure why it was so hard for everyone else and he came up with TGM
Austin was a long hitter from the beginning and came up with his findings, and made himself longer in the process.

they both where good and wanted to know what seperated them from most everyone else and because of that we get to learn from them.;)

That was not what I would prolly say.

Jim~

Contrasting the FLAT and ROTATED Shoulder Turns, what would a player do to allow placement of the right shoulder on the flattest possible plane at the Top? And, would this be practical for the longer clubs?

DRW

David Toms is probably the closest example on tour to a Zero Shift.

He goes from the hands only plane to the TSP very early in the takeaway and then comes right back down it.

I can't remember back what Tiger's swing looked like in 2000-2002 (i'll have to check) but i'm pretty sure that he was doing a reverse shift (as Adam Scott does now) which is TSP backswing to a Elbow Plane downswing.

Expectations

Ill try again as well
was homer expecting a zero shift swing or was he basicallly saying this would be the best pattern so GET AS CLOSE TO IT AS POSSIBLE

Do we know what Mr. Kelley said in the classes he personally taught? There must have been similar questions. The Book would seem to speak for itself about his belief in Zero Shift but it does seem strange that there is not one photo with a Zero Shift title. Some have said there are photos depicting what Zero Shift would look like even though he limits how the photos are to be used. In Chapter 12 Basic Patterns, which include Zero for Plane Angle Variation, he says to avoid customizing these until the “expert“ stage is approached. There isn’t anything specific in the audios I have heard and I don’t believe Ben Doyle mentions it in his A G.O.L.F. Game or Mike Jacobs in Explosive Golf. Another GSED has included it in magazine articles describing it as a very efficient procedure that produces a short, tight swing, as well as very accurate shots. The precautions are that it takes a strong person because it does not produce the swing length and power of the others.

a close swing to the pattern in the 7th is mike austin, accorkding to what I discussed with someone who worked with mike and also is a TGM AI. So other AI's say it is short, but do they understand the throw that mike incorperated? Any of you AI's who know john, just ask him about the throw and where that pattern gets some power from. Brian, you talk with him, ask him what crazy neil is talking about.
