Do very good players address the ball either off the toe or more towards the heel of the club? What would be the reasons for this and which tour players use either of these adjustments??
Could they be using the club and shaft as a gauge to set-up the perfect distance away from the ball? That is what I do myself, but it may be different for everyone.
