Aiming Point

I watched Confessions of a Former Flipper & it talks a little bit about how Ben Doyle taught Brian Aiming point. He also mentioned that this is just one way of doing aiming point. What are the other ways? Also, do you guys try to wallop the hands into this aiming point? (trailing palm....smacking the aiming point vs. looking at the ball??) Any light that you guys can shed on this will be very helpful!

Thanks,

My take on aiming point:

It's where your hands should be. Your eyes are always on the ball, but your mind's eye is trying to get your hands to the aiming point.

However, I don't like to say, 'hit the aiming point' because you might slow down instead of swinging through to the target.

So its more of a mental exercise, more subconscious than literally watching and hitting a spot lets say 2 inches past the ball? Maybe more practical when reviewing swings on camera than something your actively watching during impact?

Thanks,

Trane

Aiming Point is also the point on the Straight Plane Line where you direct your Thrust from Pressure Point #3.

Depends on how you look at it. Impact Fix is very important. You need to go through the motions to acquire the feel of where your hands should be at impact. That's the feeling you want when you are trying to swing the club through to the target.

Getting the average golfer to understand the importance of a slightly forward leaning clubshaft is vital to good ball striking.

Aiming pt.also is related to where you release and trigger types. Generally you want 15 degee forward lean with sandwedge---10 degrees with a 5 iron and hands ahead 5 degrees with driver.
